Eun Woo Cho’s work AI, Brain Wave & Ideal City invites the spectator to wear a wireless EEG headset and look at body parts (e.g., brains, arms, legs, and torsos) cast by the artist and illuminated with superimposed images of the spectator and the lighting activated by his or her brain wave responses. This symbolizes how one coexists in relationships with others and reflects on what would happen if one’s responses, representing information, were translated into data and fully exposed to everyone else.
Artist
Eun Woo CHO (b. 1981, Republic of Korea) worked for Roborizon as a Chief Design Officer & Board Member and now works for VECT as the Head of the Art & Exhibition team. She majored in visual arts at OCAD university in Toronto, Canada. After she graduated with her Master of Fine Arts at SVA in New York. Furthermore, she completed her doctorate in Arts & Philosophy (MPhil/PhD.) under the primary research entitled “User & Programmer.”
After studying abroad for about 18 years, she started to represent her artworks related to Arts & Scientific upon arrival in Korea. Cho focused on her research on human brainwaves linked with her installation work (IoT/Robotic). Cho participated in numerous art exhibitions and international shows such as Reina Sofia National Museum Spain, Madrid, Les-Rencontres Internationales Paris, Beaux-arts de Paris, and the Korean Cultural Center New York and Los Angeles. More recently, she displayed her works at the 21st Korean Science Fair, Seoul Museum of Art, Platform L, and got involved in Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture’s Dream Plan Project, and also invited by Indonesia National Museum for the science integrated artwork with the combination of AI and robot.
Currently, she won various government grants and sponsorship such as ACC National Asian Culture Center, Korea Arts Council Art & Tech 2nd types of funds, Seokyoung Lee’s New Media Art Center, AIIF-(AI & Media) Joong-Ahang High-tech Master Program Festival, and Gwangjin Cultural Foundation.
